Review

The Raid: Redemption was and still is one of the best martial-arts films of 2011 and probably most film fans favourite Martial-arts/action film ever to be created! It’s wall-to-wall head pounding, butt kicking, bone crushing, and the blood thirstiest film I’ve ever seen….and I loved it!

The film was directed by Gareth Evans, a director I wasn’t familiar with but after doing my research, I discovered he is one of the worlds best martial-art directors! So after finding this out it’s obvious why the The Raid is such a great film.

We Start the film by meeting Rama (Iko Uwais) a recruit for a SWAT team which are about to embark on a deadly mission to take down a drug kingpin. After about 10 minutes we start to witness what Rama and his team are made of! Will they survive the tower block of death?!?

Iko Uwais and Yanya Ruhian (Mad Dog) stole the film, their martial-arts just blew my mind; it was quick and powerful throughout the film, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The acting was superb and you instantly realise Iko And Yanya were very well casted when chosen to play their characters.

The only problem limiting me being able to fully enjoy and appreciate The Raid, was the story line, it was a bit weak in areas and lacked depth, whilst the camera was shaky and dark at times making it a tad challenging to fully enjoy the action scenes.

Overall I very much enjoyed this Indonesian special and would recommend it to anyone who is fond of foreign martial-arts movies.
